SEATTLE – AARP’s “Your Life Calling with Jane Pauley” will feature Bainbridge Graduate Institute co-founders Libba and Gifford Pinchot on August 16th airing 8:30-9:00am (PT) on The TODAY Show. Pauley is the host of this new series produced by AARP showcasing people ages 50+ who have reinvented themselves. A “Behind the Scenes” sneak preview provides a snapshot of the interview and the stunning beauty of the Pacific Northwest and the IslandWood outdoor education center.
Simultaneously, Pauley will host an interview on ‘ASK JANE’AARP’s live internet radio program at 9:00am (PT) with Libba, Gifford and Marc Freedman, CEO and Founder of Civic Ventures, a think tank on boomers, work and social purpose. “In 2010 Libba and Gifford were named Purpose Prize Fellows by Civic Ventures as social entrepreneurs over 60, who in their encore career, used their passion and experience and are making an extraordinary impact on society’s biggest challenges” stated Freedman. The Purpose Prize annually provides five $100,000 prizes to social innovators in the second half of life.
In 2002 Libba and Gifford reinvented their life, left highly successful corporate consulting careers, and followed their dream launching the Bainbridge Graduate Institute. “The world needs business solutions for the world’s most pressing problems,” said Gifford. “BGI’s Sustainable MBA programs and certificates are designed to integrate sustainability, including environmental and socially responsible practices, with a traditional business education to harness the power of business for good in the world.” Both Fast Company and the Huffington Post named Bainbridge Graduate Institute one of the top five green MBA programs in the country.
As one of broadcasting’s most respected journalists, Jane Pauley has been a familiar face on television for more than 30 years. Pauley is the recipient of numerous Emmy and other awards, including the prestigious Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism and the Gracie Allen Award from the Foundation of American Women in Radio & Television. Last year, in her first collaboration with AARP, Pauley received a second Gracie Award for best national public affairs program with Picking up the Pieces.
Pauley designed the AARP “Your Life Calling” program to assist, inform and inspire age 50+ Americans. “AARP knows the future is bright for a generation that is going to remain healthy and vital for 10 to 40 more years. AARP has the information and resources people need throughout their process of reinvention. This can be a time of great productivity, meaningful work, pleasure, creativity and innovation. It’s a huge opportunity.”
The Bainbridge Graduate Institute was the first school to offer an MBA in Sustainable business. Founded in 2002, BGI offers evening and weekend MBA and Certificate programs that thoroughly integrate environmental and social responsibility into every subject of the traditional core business curriculum. BGI works to help other business schools become more sustainable.
