Financial Aid
BGI participates with federal, state and private agencies to make financial aid programs available to students. Financial assistance awarded through BGI may consist of a combination of institutional scholarships and grants, state aid programs, federal and private loans and part-time work-study opportunities for those who qualify.
Students who wish to apply for financial assistance are required to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the BGI Institutional Application for Financial Aid. Both of these requirements are detailed below.
Types of Aid
Federal Work-Study Program
Our work-study program offers students the opportunity to gain valuable work experience while earning money for graduate school. Students can enhance their current learning as well as their future professional prospects by integrating classroom concepts with real-world work experience.
Institutional Scholarships
Scholarships funds are provided by BGI and a variety of government, civic and professional organizations. Scholarships are awarded in recognition of outstanding student achievement in academics, community service, and demonstrated leadership abilities.
BGI currently offers two institutional scholarships that focus on areas of diversity: the Capa-ColorsNW Diversity Scholarship and the Pinchot Diversity Scholarship. The areas of diversity include (but are not limited to) race, ethnicity, religion, age, gender, nation of origin, socio-economic status, sexual orientation and physical ability.
Institutional Grants
Institutional grants are financial awards that do not have to be repaid. They are based on need, meaning that whether or not a student qualifies will be determined by their Estimated Family Contribution (EFC).
Loans
A loan is financial aid that must be repaid to the lending institution. Eligibility, interest rates, payment deferment periods and loan amounts vary by the type of loan the student obtains. Loans are available in several forms.
Eligibility
To be eligible for a scholarship, in addition to the specific requirements listed with each scholarship, students must:
- Be enrolled as an MBA student;
- Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (new students automatically meet this requirement);
- Not currently be receiving financial aid from another institution;
- Be enrolled at least half-time; and
- Not currently be receiving full tuition reimbursement. (If you are eligible to receive partial corporate tuition reimbursement, you may still apply. However, your award may be reduced proportionately.)
Steps for Scholarship Application
In addition to submitting a FAFSA and Institutional Financial Aid Application, students who wish to apply for an institutional scholarship must also submit a Diversity Scholarship Application.
